Wednesday

Hello How are you? It’s a little chilly here in the evenings but starting to get quite hot outside! Oh… lovely cali weather

The week passed by so quickly as I’ve been heavily jetlagged (more in the “sleep all day and night” rather than “sleep all day awake all night” sense) since I got back from Japan last week, but I figured I need to get moving again on… resuming being a normal person once more

I’ve mostly been focused on (sleeping), unpacking, and trying to get back into my routine. My favourite eats lately have been apples… so many apples. I think we went through 6 apples and 1.5 lbs of strawberries in 4 days and by “we”… it’s 90% me. LOL

Otherwise, I’ve been working slowly on my Japan posts I was excited to update the blog during my trip and set everything up for a portable workspace, but what I did not anticipate was how hard it was to edit and keep track of photos through icloud’s file systems to post!! Still, I did do some draft posts so I just need to clean them up and add in the photos, so hopefully those posts can appear eventually

Some days now, I feel like this scratching-off Chiikawa - gleeful but fading out Can you believe it’s almost April?

Since my manz and I both took trips early this year, our anniversary celebration is getting pushed to April, so we’ve been trying to plan for that too! Though we prefer casual “celebrations”, it’s nice to have something to look forward to

On Saturday, we had dinner at Sagami with friends and watched Mickey 17 afterwards I was craving plain leaves after all the fun eats I had in Japan, so their sashimi salad was perfect!

Surprisingly to me, it was such a funny movie! I definitely wouldn’t have picked it to watch myself although the trailer looked silly when we saw it before watching The Brutalist at the theatre a while back (I… did not understand this movie and both of us left puzzled ).

I normally don’t like the thought of how expensive theatre showings are now, but… it’s really nice to have an occasion to go out with friends and relax together

Lastly, I made this freaky matcha protein snack recently and it looks like radioactived sumikkos. I think I need to work on the adjustments to the original recipe for a bit to fix up the looks but otherwise, it was actually very tasty!

Wednesday

Hello from Japan It’s been a fun first days on my trip, but I’m happy to finally get some time to chill out and write a blog post at a cafe! Need to take advantage of the lovely cafe culture here Anyway, I hope you have been well, it has been fairly cold here

On my arrival day, I was able to catch Sarah on a free evening to have dinner! Since my airbnb is in Shibuya, we thought we’d try eating around there.

Though I’ve been to Shibuya a few times, I never really explore the (numerous) malls there so I was pleasantly surprised by checking out the food courts at Mark’s City & Hikarie!

We took a long time to decide what to eat before settling on a fruit parfait place in Hikarie, but… missed the order window by 4 min

Sarah working hard to translate the menu...

Instead, we ended up going to Komeraku Tappuri since the food looked healthy, refreshing, and colourful I’m really happy we picked out this place, since I’ve heard of the “ochazuke” style meal where you eat your rice with tea, but had never tried it, and this place has something very similar!

I ordered their ohitsu gohan meal set, which uses “special sauce” & soup stock instead of tea to mix with your meal. Both were delicious - I’ve had a lot of fish-based broth but this one was incredibly flavourful and not salty at all

Sarah got their ochazuke set, which looked incredibly delicious too! The portion size is just right I really like that I don’t have to take leftovers every time in Japan!

They gave this little round fella with each dish! Isn’t he cute

Sarah graciously walked me back to the airbnb after our lovely meal, and we stopped by Family Mart to get snacks but ended up finding Sidney’s FAVOURITE PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICHES!!!! memories of Sarah swiping thehir entire stock into her hands

I stopped by the 7-11 by my spot to get the next day’s breakfast before retiring for the nightt, and saw this chiikawa soft ice cream in the freezer section, and though I had no idea what to expect, I figured Now Is The Time To Try and Why Not, so I nabbe em as a snack

They have different flavours and all 3 of the main boys are here!

They’re like little gentle inner ice cream with a light outer softshell It was definitely a fun try! I made a thought to myself that for this trip, I’m going to try to eat more snacks, since I don’t eat many of them back home. It’s not so hard to get snacks when they’re cute

Anyway, I’m going to head back to my place now to drop off some things for today, but it was fun checking in with my blog! It’s raining pretty hard outside now…
