Holidays in SD

December Nights

This last year, my manz was interested in Balboa Park’s big holiday event: December Nights! Even though Balboa Park is such a big and popular area in San Diego, I never thought about them hosting seasonal events before.

It turned out to be really, really fun - and completely free to enjoy, including the public transport to get there! I was so surprised that you don’t even need to pay parking (certain lots were free for the event temporarily)

Handel’s peppermint ice cream ♥ Botanical Building reopened

They decorated most of the park with lots of holiday decor & lights Lots of the museums had free entry (normally paid) and special setups for the event. Not everything was open entirely like the Japanese garden was only sectioned off, but it was still nice to peek into some museums that we had never been inside before

It was a pleasantly cosy atmosphere to walk around in

I loved this silly painting that had zero context

The next day, we got brunch at Del Mar in this cute little plaza that had coffeeshops, fancy looking boutiques, and a french bakery I really loved walking around here and you could even walk along the beachside easily while waiting for your brunch spot to free up.

San Diego really has the most beautiful weather I have so much fun every time I visit it, even though it’s quite the drive!

Jazzy time

Later in the month, we visited jazzie woo at SD and met her manz for the first time too Every year, I love to visit the jazz and make sure we have our good blessings for the new year! We usually journal together, but this time we just wanted to spend some time going out and about!

We first met up at a cute coffee shop called Lovesong Coffee for a “meet & greet”, but the boys immediately went straight into chattering away! It was such a fun greet to observe as an introvert

The drink cups had such fascinating pentagonal shaped lids that I had never seen before

The inside decor was so cute! I really love warm wood tones & lively green plants at coffee shops. I didn’t take a photo of it to share, but the shop really had such a socal vibe - huge open space instead of a window and cute lounge areas inside I wish we had more of these small coffee shops in our area, but at least these are not too far away for a weekend day trip

Our yearly photo with Stephen King

This is at Verbatim Books, where a jazz man wanted to check out for the first time! I love an independent book shop

The two boys

Every time I visit here, I feel like they’ve refreshed it with something new and funky to look at - aside from the fascinating book collection, of course!

We spent a lot of time at the Air & Space Museum (super fun exhibits, though it feels a bit outdated?) before wanting to grab a local favourite gelato to get us appetized for dinner. I thought the holiday decor was really cute

Jacket swapping due to my poor choices

Though, the funny thing is… we waited quite a long time for this gelato on recommendation from my manz’s friend, but it turns out to be the same gelato (at least I’m quite sure) as An’s Hatmaker in Del Mar that we had on our December Nights visit! Still, the gelato is quite good. I am not sure if I would recommend waiting 40 or so minutes in super cold weather with an ill-suited jacket though!

♡ Dress: Evelyn ♡
♡ Inner Top: GRL ♡
♡ Jacket: Honey Cinnamon ♡
♡ Bag, Hairclips, Hairband: Pium ♡
♡ Shoes (not in picture): Bubbles ♡

I wore this Evelyn onepiece that I had been eyeing ever since it came out, but I wasn’t sure if it was going to fit… but since someone listed it for abour $15, I thought it was worth a risk Thankfully, it worked out! It’s quite pale in my photo but it’s actually a very sweet pink, which I adore

It’s not shown in this picture, but I also picked up the popular double buckle platform shoes in size 38 (23.5-24.0) - normally my size is 37 / 23.5 but I saw so many listings being resold due to size not fitting, so I opted for the half-size up and it’s perfect!! It’s surprisingly comfortable for such a high platform I’m really happy since I can twin with jume who has the same shoes

Jazzy gave me this orange catto for Christmas that I had loooved since it came out but could never quite fit it in my purchases - so happy! He is such an odd shape that I enjoy!
