Recently, I updated my book review format after studying what I liked about other people’s reviews. I’m still learning to express my thoughts in a clearer way, so I hope to continue sharing about the books I’ve read

Thinner

Stephen King

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐★
Genre: Horror
TW: Weight loss
Summary Man becomes cursed to become thinner, and thinner, and thinner.
Opening Line 'Thinner,' the old Gypsy man with the rotting nose whispers to William Halleck as Halleck and his wife, Heidi, come out of the courthouse.

This book took me so long to finish - originally started reading a physical copy before misplacing it and having to complete it as an audiobook! This was written under the Bachman name and is a bit darker (sounds funny to say the Bachman books seem to be written darker than King, but many of King’s usual works are a bit more hopeful here and there.)

Was this a satisfying read? I think it’s not quite my type of horror since I felt like it went on quite long, though it seems to deliver on a sense of darkness and feeling of nihility. I’m glad I read it, it’s fairly straightforward (curses doing cursed things) overall. It’s one of those books where none of the characters are very likeable, which isn’t necessarily bad.
